2the designers never tried their own product
By Garry Myers IV
I have actually had great success with the function of this product. The camera works in both light and dark conditions, and the sound is adequate. That is all I have to say positive about this product. The fact that there was anything positive is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. I've seen other reviews to the contrary, but this is about my experience. The negatives are many, and seem to mostly be a result of a design team that was focused 100% on form, and not at all on function. I have seen some of these problems in other reviews, but I think they are worth repeating.1) The glowing blue lights. Bright enough to light up a room on both the camera and the monitor. Worse yet is that the whole monitor face glows brightly anytime the power is on, and then blinks like a neon sign when the unit is charging. I solved the camera part with some duct tape, but that was impossible on the monitor so I had to open the unit and shatter the LED. Of course this would void the warranty, but I was sick of shopping for monitors.2) The battery life and indicator. The battery life is short, and made even shorter with every second you have the display turned on. This could be helped by a timed off function on the display, but it doesn't have one.3) cord length on camera -- unless your outlets are near the ceiling, the length of the cord for the camera severely limits where you can place the camera.4) volume control - when adjusting the volume, the unit beeps, quite loudly, each time you press the button. If there is sleeping going on, by anyone in the vicinity, it will probably be interrupted. What is worse is that the beeps are the same volume regardless of to what level the volume is set. So what is the purpose of the beeps? When the display is on there is a volume level indicator, but when it is off there is no indication of what the volume setting is. But you still have the loud, useless beeps.5) unstable with cord plugged in -- which is especially unfortunate since it has to be plugged in so often.6) very loud beep when the battery runs low -- this actually makes sense, however I list it as a drawback because of how frequently it is utilized.7) no indication for level of battery charge - only full or empty. This seems obvious to me.I hope you find this review useful.

4Peace of mind!
By Gift
Up until our daughter moved into a toddler bed we used a basic audio monitor. When it was time for the big move we were determined to find a video monitor to help give us a peace of mind with her new freedom! We have been using this monitor for about 2 months and love it! The picture is outstanding and the audio is perfect with no crackles or pops (had that a lot with the basic audio monitor previously used)Bad things include short battery life after charging and the blue light on the handheld part is a little bright during the night.Other than those things this monitor was a great buy for the price and quality.

1Terrible monitor
By Stinky Pete
I really can't say anything good about this monitor. We don't have a big house, but the signal between the monitor and the camera drops constantly. We simply cannot use the monitor when our kid's in his crib, and we're in our kitchen. No signal whatsoever. As the crow flies, the kitchen is 20 yards from the nursery. Maybe there's a team of angry ninjas hiding in our floorboards, swinging their swords violently to interfere with our reception -- I'm aware of that possibility, and accept that potential explanation. However, the signal's dropping when we're in our bedroom, ten yards from the nursery, on the same floor, with only one wall separating the two rooms is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the batter life is extremely short. We thought all monitors were finicky like ours until we visited friends that had the Summer Best View. It was amazing - not only did it work all throughout our friends' enormous house, we were informed that it also worked halfway down their block. Needless to say, we're scrapping our Safety First Piece of Junk and buying that one. I am scrapping the Safety First -- its that terrible.
